Meet
Anieta Foley, Global Business Manager
Having worked
for Kumuka for over a decade and spent the better part of her
career in the travel industry, Anieta is often found at the front
line of the action and loves to see a good plan run smoothly.
She has travelled all over the world and uses her skill sets in
all pies that make up Kumuka. To say Anieta is our rock would
be an understatement!
In
her own words:
Best
place visited on holiday? The garden at Elsemere, the
home of Joy Adamson at Lake Naivasha/Kenya. There is something
about being there, you are so close to nature and it has such
a positive vibe.
Favorite
foreign saying? As’t net kin sa’t it moat
dan moat ’t mar sa’t it kin
What
does it mean? It’s Friesian Dutch (north of Holland)
translated it means, “nothing has to be done perfectly as
long as you do your best.”
Best
restaurant whilst abroad? Kasteel Wittem in the south
of Holland.
If
you could invite a celebrity over for dinner who would it be,
why and what would you serve? Kath & Kim, can I have
2? It would be suburbia Melbourne in my own home. I would cook
Thai style prawns, Chicken Kiev and Crepes Suzette with a bottle
of Chardonnay of course.
If
you could jump on any Kumuka trip tomorrow, which one would it
be and why? Untamed Madagascar, for the wildlife, culture
and conservation.
Right
now, what are you looking forward to most? The every
expanding portfolio of Kumuka tours.
Do
you have any quirky habits? Being methodical, everything
has a home.

The
Henschke family travel through Europe
Hi Meg,
My family
and I travelled with Kumuka in mid 08 around Europe on a 17 day
tour. My family comprises of my wife Jan and I, both in the twilight
years of our 40’s, our 20 year old daughter and our 16 year
old son. What a fantastic time we had – discovering the
sights of Prague, the experiences of Amsterdam (my sons favourite),
the nightclubs anywhere (my daughters favourite) from Paris to
Rome. This was a family trip I dreamed about from the first time
my wife brought our beautiful children into this world.
Sometimes
lifetime dreams can be so hyped up, that by the time you experience
the dream it is full of disappointments. Well not this trip –
it was fantastic. It was like an extended family holiday with
the safe direction of our drivers and guides, and a great group
of fellow travellers only interested in experiencing life and
having fun. We cant speak highly enough of your staff, including
the booking staff in Sydney who also helped greatly with other
travel plans before we left.
To any family
who is thinking of travelling together on a Kumuka tour –
I have only one thing to say: why are you waiting? Just do it.
(Actually that's two things, but why squabble over words). There
is enough space on a Kumuka tour to find your own Europe, and
also a friendly group of fellow travellers and guides to be with
when you are seeking guidance or company. Thanks Kumuka, thanks
Brian, Gordon, Susan and Kevin, and the friends we made on the
trip for a great holiday. Now we are plotting and planning for
our next family trip – maybe South America, Greek Islands,
Africa... Come on Tatts Lotto.
Regards Greg,
Jan, Angela and Justin Henschke

Tips
for Hair care when travelling!
The thought
of getting a haircut in a foreign country where English is not
the first language, can be scary. A way to get around this, is,
before you leave home, have your hairdresser make a diagram of
how he/she cuts your hair. Another hairdresser should be able
to read this like a map, and give you a similar style.
If you get
your hair coloured, have your hairdresser write down what they
use to get your particular look.
If you need
to shop for hair products, like conditioner or shampoo, go to
a translation website and find out how to spell the required product
in the language of the country. When faced with 50 bottles all
in German or French, you won’t know if you're buying dandruff
shampoo, or frizz control conditioner.

thing again.
