The
positive news stimulus package
It’s
hard to know if you are Arthur or Martha
in this crazy world we’re all currently
living in. It’s
tempting not to read any news in case of
yet another gloomy forecast. I don’t
know about you, but I think that if people
started talking about positive things instead
of wallowing in concern, we’d all
pick our lips up off the floor, get back
into life and, in turn, kick start respective
economies. It would be the ultimate stimulus
package don’t you think?
Well
let me start the ball rolling, with the
Kumuka 10 point positive news stimulus package.
1.
The world is still out there,
Kilimanjaro is still the highest mountain
in Africa, The Amazon Jungle is still teaming
with Macaws, The Eiffel Tower lights up
every night, The Moreno Glacier still advances
creaking and groaning as ice tumbles 70
metres into the lake below, the Great Wall
of China is still great, food in Thailand
is to die for and cruising Antarctica is
as stunning as ever.
2.
People are still travelling,
despite talk of a slowdown; people are still
experiencing the wonders of the world, minus
perhaps the masses of mainstream visitors,
rendering the sights and experiences more
intimate and less touristy.
3.
There has never been a better time to travel,
there are some amazing flight deals in the
market at the moment making getting there
even more fun.
4.
Kumuka prices have never been more affordable,
not having changed since pre credit crunch,
unlike many of our competitors, and packed
full of inclusions, Kumuka is one of the
most affordable inclusive tour companies
in the market.
5.
Kumuka is growing! The good
thing about adventure travel is our clients
tend to venture a little further no matter
what, so our numbers are good, business
is strong and we’re enjoying the world
today as we have been for the past 25 years
of operation.
6.
We are guaranteeing tours,
due to our great numbers we have a number
of guaranteed tours around the globe, meaning
that they have already met minimum numbers
and will definitely run, you can book with
confidence and have one less thing to worry
about when planning for the future. Just
look for the Guaranteed symbol next to the
tour date you are interested in.
7.
New Kumuka routes are opening every day,
our Operations team is growing and so is
our product range including more recent
additions, South Korea small group tours,
Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea, Death
March in Borneo, watch this space for Oman
to Dubai small group tours, trips to World
Heritage sites, Mamma Mia Family Adventures
in Greece and many others.
8. There has
never been a better time to pre pay for
your travel, with currency
fluctuations as they are, pre paying in
your local currency takes the guess work
out your planning.
9.
Kenya Visa prices have halved for adults
and have been abolished for children,
so if you are planning a safari to Kenya,
pocket the extra cash and enjoy a few extra
Gin and Tonics as the sun sets over the
savannah.
10.
The best things in life are free! Every
season Kumuka publishes a free travel magazine
called “Venture” and deliver
it to your door free of charge, if you are
not receiving it yet, subscribe
here and get ready to venture a little
further.
So now that I have started my positive news
stimulus package, how about passing your
own on? Next time you talk to someone, tell
them only the good news you can think of,
when you part, tell them to tell the next
person only about the good things that happened
to them, let’s see if we can
start a good news revolution!

Meet
Natasha Meyer – Sales Manager, Victoria
Australia
Having
travelled the world in search of the best cup
of tea and having worked in nearly every corner
of the travel industry, Natasha came to Kumuka
when she was looking for a more adventurous change;
she has since stormed every travel agent in Victoria
spreading the Kumuka love.
In
her own words:
Favourite
Destination: just a jump and a hop from
Australia, it is New Zealand especially the South
Island, so stunning.
The
thing I like most about working for Kumuka is:
The people!
If
you could jump on board a Kumuka tour what would
it be: It would be the Southern Star
in Africa, I want to see wildlife, beaches and
wineries and I want to top it off by dune buggying
in Namibia.. I want it all!
If
you could invite two famous people to lunch who
would they be – Richard Branson
for his entrepreneurial skills and Johnny Depp
to look at (shh don’t tell my fiancé)
I would cook roast lamb, my favorite and a good
hearty meal for the boys.
Fav
adventure activity: Sky diving, and white
water rafting, I like to travel at high speeds
through the air and water.
Quirky
Habit: I have a penchant for painting
my face and going to the football, assuming I
will go unrecognized.

Jambo
from Africa
Africa
is certainly all I dreamed of and more!
I
am unfortunately now half way through my tour
but have already had the adventure of a lifetime!
We
have just spent two days in the Serengeti and
last night from our tent we heard lions roaring
in the distance! Our guide Martin said they were
miles away but was still so exhilarating! We ARE
definitely in Africa!
Tonight
we camp on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater, Africa's
'Garden of Eden' and then we head to Zanzibar,
for 3 days of r'n'r! I've heard the banana pancakes
in the night markets in Stone Town are delectable,
I'll keep you posted!
Thank
you Kumuka for helping make my dream of seeing
the wildlife of Africa a reality!

Michael
& Caroline travel to Japan
Dear
Kumuka,
We
recently did the 7 day highlights of Japan tour
and just wanted to let you know how fantastic
our tour buddy was. His name was Masaki Nakagawa
and there was not enough he could do for us. He
gave us lots of options for us to do in out free
time and even took the time to help us find a
traditional Japanese restaurant in Tokyo and helped
us order our food as the restaurant did not have
an English menu. From the moment our tour started
in Kyoto he was very friendly and provided us
with loads of information.
We
just wanted to thank Masaki very much as his contribution
enabled us to really enjoy Japan and all its cultural
experiences which may have been a bit more difficult
without his 'local' knowledge.

Packing
Essentials
»
If you won't wear it more than
three times, don't bring it!
»
Pack light, wash frequently, buy
it if you need it
»
Your pack should weigh about 20
percent of your body weight if you want an easy
life
»
Limit yourself to one carry-on
size bag.
»
You can always buy more socks,
t-shirts, toiletries, and shoes as you go along.
It’s so much better to under-pack.
»
A week before your trip, pack
your bag with everything you think you want to
take, and carry it around for a day. Is it comfortable?
Too heavy? Better to know now than later!

OFF Cruises to Antarctica
Cruise
aboard the MV Ushuaia to one of the last remaining
wildernesses on our planet today: Antarctica,
the fabled White Continent.
Antarctica
is an untamed territory of wild, natural beauty,
as well as a land of superlatives: the world's
fifth largest continent, the coldest place on
earth, the highest average altitude, and the lowest
humidity. The continent is devoid of a permanent
human population, although what it lacks in the
human factor, it more than makes up for in mammals
and marinelife, wildlife and scenery.
